River Medina

WLW Ltd designed a river restoration for the heavily modified River Medina on the Isle of Wight to enable unobstructed passage to migratory fish as well as benefiting other species. The design led to Wessex Land and Water Ltd winning the contract to carry out the necessary construction work involving the installation of rock rolls, berms and woody debris to help re-establish small meanders and improve the habitats in the river course for wildlife; and bank stabilisation to repair old damage and prevent further erosion. New habitats have also been created using native riverine plants which will provide protection and habitats for fish and other wildlife.
